Let’s talk about one of the most versatile and beloved items in our wardrobes: sneakers. Whether you’re strutting down city streets, hitting the gym, or just running errands, sneakers are the ultimate blend of style and comfort. But here’s the thing: styling them isn’t always as straightforward as slipping them on and going about your day. In this post, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite tips and tricks for how to style sneakers effortlessly for any occasion, whether you’re hitting the pavement or strutting your stuff on the town. Plus, some of my favorite outfit ideas with sneakers.
How to Style Sneakers
Casually with a Dress
There is no better combo than a dress and sneakers. It’s my go-to way to style sneakers during the hot summer months and with so many different dress silhouette’s and sneaker options out there, it’s fun to find the perfect match. It you want a dress that feels a little more elevated but is still comfortable, this knit dress is a favorite of mine. It looks really cute paired with a chunky pair of sneakers like these ones but you can also pair it with a fun pair of strappy sandals for date night!

Pairing your favorite low top sneakers with a denim mini dress is another great option! This is a classic look that has been popular for years. It’s effortless, comfortable, and practical. What more could you want? If you’re doing any traveling this summer or heading to a baseball game, this is such a great outfit idea!

For the days you’re out shopping and running errands, this dress is comfortable and it looks cute with these sneakers. With the chunkier, more masculine sneaker, you wouldn’t normally expect to pair it with a feminine dress but I love the juxtoposition.

With an Elevated Top and Jeans
Sneakers have quickly become a fashion favorite, especially with more elevated, “put together” outfits. They add an unexpected element that instantly makes the outfit feel very chic. Take this outfit for example! The knit vest and the woven bag are more feminine so you’d expect to pair a pair of strappy sandals, kitten heel pumps, or a ballet flat with it. Instead, when you pair a sneaker, like this pair, with the outfit, it gives the outfit more of an unexpected look! Very chic city street style-esque.
Sweater Vest / Skinny Jeans / Round Sunglasses / Lipgloss / Woven Top Handle Bag / Sneakers
This fitted top is another great elevated top that when paired with sneakers, gives it a cooler look. If you’re heading to brunch this weekend with friends, pair the top with your favorite pair of jeans (love this pair!) and these sneakers. I love that this outfit feels elevated but is still practical for a casual day.

With Trousers
For the days you’re going into the office but still want to be comfortable, try pairing your sneakers with trousers and an elevated sweater! It’s a chic look that truly never goes out of style. To help make your sneakers more office appropriate, try pairing them with monochromatic pieces like these grey trousers and this grey sweater. Simple, chic, and will get you lots of compliments!

With Activewear
One of the easiest, and my personal favorite, ways to style sneakers is with activewear. After all, sneakers were designed for exercising! But just because you’re wearing sneakers and activewear doesn’t mean you necessarily have to be working out. On the weekends that are busy with sports and running errands, I love pairing my sneakers with comfy activewear like this set and this oversized sweatshirt.
Sports Bra / Sweatshirt / Leggings / Fitness Tracker / Canvas Tote / Insulated Tumbler / Sneakers
Another great activewear option to wear with your favorite pair of sneakers is this sweatshirt and these flowy shorts. With this, you can do a more casual sneaker like this pair from New Balance.
